Magnitude 6.5 earthquake hits Davao
A powerful earthquake shakes Davao Oriental and neighboring places on Saturday morning, according Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Philvolcs issued earthquake information number which details that the quake was felt around 6:53am of September 24, 2016. The epicenter was at 06.67°North, 126.46°East - 041 km South 40° East of Mati City, Davao Oriental.
It has a depth of 42 kilometers on a tectonic origin.
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in its initial report said that the center of the quake is at 35.3 kilometers east southeast of Bobon, Davao Oriental, with a depth of 69 kilometers.

Intensity V - Mati, Davao Oriental; Davao City
Intensity IV - General Santos City; Alabel, Glan & Malapatan, Sarangani; Polomolok, South
Cotabato;
Intensity III - Tupi, South Cotabato; Cagayan De Oro City;
Phivolcs added that no damages have been reported yet, and aftershocks are expected.
