2017 Gilas Pilipinas pool announced

MANILA - Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has already announced the 24-man pool of Gilas Pilipinas men's national basketball team which will see action in the different international tournament this year and the 2019 World Championship.
Twelve PBA players were added in the pool initially composed of 12 Gilas cadets previously drafted on October 2016.
Al Panlilio, president of SBP, divulged the list during a simple ceremony in between of PBA double-header on Sunday, January 22. PBA Commissioner Chito Narvasa, Senator Sonny Angara, SBP Vice Chair Robbie Puno, Executive Director Sonny Barrios, comebacking Gilas head coach Chot Reyes and team owners graced the event.
The Gilas pool will be bannered by three-time PBA Most Valuable Player and San Miguel Beermen center Junemar Fajardo, Asia's best point guard Jayson Castro, Globalport's top gun Terrence Romeo, and Alaska's beast Calvin Abueva.

Coach Reyes said that the chosen players were all 30 and below because they all be used through 2019 for the FIBA Basketball World Championship.
This year, Gilas Pilipinas will compete in the SEABA Championship, Southeast Asian Games and the new FIBA Asia Continental Cup in November.
