Bar topnotcher is 'Dungganon nga Antiqueno 2017' awardee

The 2014 bar topnotcher will receive 'Dungganon nga Antiqueno 2017' award on February 25.

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique - Atty. Irene Mae B. Alcobilla, who topped the 2014 Bar exams, will be conferred with a 'Dungganon nga Antiqueno' award by the organizer of The Ten Outstanding Pupils and Students of Antique (The TOPS), Inc.

TOPS Antique Inc. chairman Emeritus Dr. Egidio P. Elio, in a phone interview on Tuesday, said that Alcobilla was chosen in recognition of her inspiring feat of academic excellence as 2014 bar topnotcher, in which he garnered 85.50% rating.

Alcobilla, a native of San Remigio town, was school valedictorian of St. Vincent’s High School. She attended law school at San Beda College-Manila. She had her training at the Office of the Solicitor General before taking the bar examinations in October 2014.

She would often say that she only wanted to be a Bedan lawyer and her topping the bar was a miracle.

“I feel that it’s a miracle. Maybe I’m just dreaming. I can’t define what I am feeling right now, ” Alcobilla said in an interview. “What I only wanted was to become a Bedan lawyer, to pass the Bar.”

She will receive the TOPS’ “Dungganon nga Antiqueno Award 2017” on February 25, this year at the Antique National School.

The awarding of the pupils and students who made it to TOPS will likewise be done on the same date and venue. [via PNA]
