9 Miss Universe official candidates in Manila this week

Some Miss Universe candidates will be in Manila this week to promote the pageant.

MANILA - The Miss Universe fever in Philippines is really on as official candidates from nine countries will arrive in Manila this week!

Pageanthology 101, a leading web portal for pageantry-related news, revealed that 9 candidates will land in the country as early as this week to promote the 65th edition of the most prestigious beauty contest, Miss Universe.

They will drumming up the hype together with reigning Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurztbach.

Here are the 9 candidates who are set to arrive this week:

•Miss Myanmar
•Miss Korea
•Miss USA
•Miss Australia
•Miss Indonesia
•Miss Japan
•Miss New Zealand




The Miss Universe 2016 coronation night will be held on January 30, 2017, 8:00 – 11:00 AM at the Mall of Asia Arena. Philippines' bet Maria Mika Maxine Medina will try to win it back to back for the Philippines, which will be hosting the grand pageant for the third time in history.

A total of 90 candidates representing their countries are expected to arrive in the country on January 13. They will participate in pre-pageant activities to be held in tourist spots in Vigan, Cebu, Baguio, Davao, Iloilo and other regions in the country.
