PAPRB readies Online CPD Courses for Professionals

Association of PRC member boards is now readying online CPD courses and programs for all professionals, based on a video posted online.

MANILA - The new CPD Law will require all regulated professionals to earn CPD units as requirement for renewal of PRC licenses starting 2017, and the Philippine Association of Professional Regulatory Board (PAPRB) is preparing a system that will offer online courses.

A video posted online divulged that PAPRB is preparing an online CPD Academy which aims to "implement the online delivery of CPD Courses from instructor-led training to self-paced, self-study courses as both complementary and supplementary to current CPD activities," in compliance with the new Continuing Professional Development Law.

The new CPD law was passed this July 2016, and PRC will start implementing it next year. You may read more about it here: http://www.netpinas.com/2016/11/new-cpd-law-and-prc-implementation.html

In compliance with the Continuing Professional Development Law, the Philippine Association of Professional Regulatory Board (PAPRB) with all its 44 member boards from business, education, social work, medical, health, engineering and technology resolves to implement the online delivery of CPD Courses from instructor-led training to self-paced, self-study courses as both complementary and supplementary to current CPD activities that are otherwise mostly in physical or live forms.

With the new CPD Law, some PRBs are bound to institutionalize their CPD programs for their regulated professionals for the first time, while others continue with higher CPD requirements to boost the role and contribution of regulated professions in building the new Philippines including its proactive support to skills mobility within the ASEAN by promoting the desirability of Filipino professionals for being current, competent and relevant, making a stronger case for Philippine qualifications in realizing Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications within the region and beyond.

PRBs mandated CPD compliance reinforces the credibility of professionals and boosts the value of their licenses. CPD activities are currently being served by seminars, trainings, formal education, and the like in traditional physical forms, constraining attendance, budget, and convenience.

PAPRB solves these constraints, and in the process revolutionizes CPD delivery with the launch of CPD Academy - a PAPRB online training platform for all three million Filipino professionals across all 44 PRC-regulated professions to take CPD courses online anytime, anywhere in the comfort and convenience of their homes, offices, and appointment schedules.

PAPRB CPD Academy features separate online instance for specific profession, course catalogue, search feature, social media integration and online payment processing. It also keeps record of professional's CPD activities, finished courses and certificates.

The system is browser-based and features modern web design which is accessible in desktop and mobile devices.

CPD Academy Process Flow

1. Create an Account or Login.
2. Browse Courses
3. View Course Info
4. Register and Pay
5. Take the Course
6. Book and Take Test
7. Grade Test
8. Award CPD Credit
9. Evaluate Course

CPD Course Formats include Instructor-led training (Live, Remote or Recorded), Webinar or Online Self-Paced Course.

A quick check on the PAPRB CPD Academy website revealed that the online system is not in place yet. Also, no official information if this system is already accredited and approved by Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) CPD Councils.
