MMFF 2016 Official Entries named

Yes, there's no Vic Sotto, Kris Aquino, or Vice Ganda movie in this year's MMFF.



MANILA - The eight films nominated as final entries to the 42nd Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has been announced on Friday, November 18, 2016.

MMFF is held during the year-end holiday season in recognition of the role of the film industry in providing artistic depictions of both this country’s stories and history.

An Executive Committee, headed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman and composed of key members of the film industry, supervises this annual event.

First named as MMFF Finalist is Jun Robles Lana's Die Beautiful, a transgender comedy-drama which stars Paolo Ballesteros. The film won Audience Award and Best Actor Award in the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Nora Aunor-starrer Kabisera is also in the competition. Check out the full list of entries below:

Surprisingly, this year's film festival has no Vic Sotto, Vice Ganda or Kris Aquino movies, which have dominated the competition for several years.

MMFF 2016 parade will be held on December 23, while the festival proper will be from December 25, 2016 to January 7, 2017. Awarding ceremony will be on January 8, 2017.
