The battle for the title is first for Meralco, while Ginebra's back after 3 years.
The stage is set for the PBA Finals in this year's Governor Cup tournament between Meralco Bolts and Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings, and the league has posted the schedule of games in the best-of-seven series which will start on Friday, October 7, 2016.
In a semifinals featuring battles of sister teams, Meralco downed Talk N' Text, 3-1, while Ginebra bested San Miguel Beermen in five games.
It's the first time in franchise history that the Bolts will advance to title series, while the Gin Kings are back after losing to Alaska Aces three years ago. The crowd-favorite team will also try to end an 8-year title drought.
Meralco will depend on its old reliables of Reynel Hugnatan, Jimmy Alapag, and Cliff Hodge, newcomers Chris Newsome and Basir Amer, and import Allen Durham.
Ginebra's attack will hinder on playmaking of veterans LA Tenorio and Sol Mercado, super rookie Scottie Thompson, athletic Japeth Aguilar and import Justin Brownlee.
