SMB destroys Ginebra to force deciding semis Game 5

Marcio Lassiter scored 25 points to give San Miguel Beermen a series-tying win against Barangay Ginebra, 101-72, and force a deciding Game 5 in the ongoing 2016 PBA Governors' Cup semifinals.


'Super Marcio' led the pounding in the pivotal second quarter where he engineered 11-0 run, while his team held the Gin Kings scoreless in the first 7 minutes of the period. Lassiter scored 14 of his 25 in that quarter.

He shot 7 of 9 three-pointers and 9 of 13 field goals overall to earn the best player of the game citation.

Even with the lopsided win, coach Leo Austria doesn't want to leave anything to chance.

“Alam mo naman kapag Ginebra you cannot be sure of what can happen,” said Austria. “I’m so thankful we’re able to even the series and this is a good treat for the fans.”

Game 5 will be on Tuesday, with the winner advancing to the PBA Finals.
